WE WERE very disappointed after the game against Oxfordshire this week, even though our three day campaign has not been something that we’d envisaged.

If you look at the table, all of the sides that we’ve beaten are below us and the sides that beat us are above us, so it really does tells the highs and lows of our season.

It was those two wins that got us into a position to win the league and we’re still disappointed that we didn’t manage to do it because a Wiltshire side has never been in that position before.

I thought we started well and he a good first innings against Oxfordshire – we played some good cricket and batted the whole 90 overs and got a good score of 306.

But we let ourselves down in the second innings by getting out for 129.

Another 50 or 60 runs would have made it interesting and we also dropped about five important catches that could have changed the game too.

The guys were all pretty dejected after the game but we knew that we had two important matches left and our second one is the big trophy final next week.

We’ve gone through everything with the lads about travelling up on the Tuesday, the hotels where we’ll be staying and the tickets for the players’ friends and families to come and watch.

They’re all also going to train at Purton on Sunday and have a few bowls and hit a few balls - it’s going to be a huge game and we’re all really looking forward to it.

I know that a few coaches of will be coming and from speaking to people at Devizes and South Wilts in recent weeks, it seems like people are looking forward to it too.

We’re under no illusions - we know that, just like against Staffordshire (in the MCCA KO Trophy semi-final), we go in as the underdogs and it’s going to be a really tough game.

But we’re confident that we can step up again and perform to give us the best chance of not being the team that’s left disappointed again.
