MARK Poppleton, from Trowbridge, carried off top prize in the Sunday Open match at Viaduct Fishery, reeling in 201 lb 9 oz of carp, writes COLIN SCULL.

Nick Merry, from Gillingham, was runner up with 185 lb of carp, followed by Dave Musitano, of West Tackle, with 131 lb 9 oz and Steve Ince, from Trowbridge, was fourth with 125 lb 13 oz.

The silvers prize went to Tom Ince, from Trowbridge, with 24 lb.

GERALD Lugg secured top prize at the Trowbridge Open Wednesday evening match on the Bristol Avon at Staverton with 10 lb 10 oz of perch and eels.

Vic Abbott, from Bradford, was next with 6 lb 15 oz of roach, followed by Trowbridge’s Dave Baker with 6 lb 11 oz of roach and perch.

Other placings: 4. Pete Mills Chippenham 6 lb 2 oz; 5. Alan Hillier Westbury 5 lb 2 oz; 6. Mick Gunning Trowbridge 4 lb 11 oz.

IN-FORM Gary Etheridge, from Devizes, chalked up another win in the Wilts Angling Thursday evening match at Leech Pool with 131 lb of carp.

Ian Willetts, from Bradford, was second with 101 lb and Holt’s Pete Neate third with 84 lb.

Other placings: 4. Tony Gilbert Melksham 62 lb; 5. Mark Poppleton Trowbridge 60 lb; 6. Stuart White Chippenham 59 lb.

KEVIN WILLIAMS clinched Saturday’s Chippenham match on the Bristol Avon with 30 lb 4 oz of chub.

Ian Liddell was runner up with 17 lb 10 oz of chub and barbell and Pete Mills third with 15 lb 4 oz of chub and dace.

Other placings: 4. Gary Dodson Calne 12 lb 2 oz; 5. Nick Lofy Calne 10 lb 12 oz; 6. Lee Wooldridge Chippenham 10 lb 7 oz.

SATURDAY’S Avon SCC match at Melksham went to Devizes’ Gary Williamson with 18 lb 12 oz of tench, perch and eels.

Brian Haigh, from Melksham, was runner upwith 10 lb 14 oz, followed by Marcus Crook with 10 lb 8 oz.

Other placings: 4. Andy Pratten Melksham 8 lb 10 oz; 5. Pete Townsend Swindon 8 lb 8 oz; 6. Alan Brown Swindon 5 lb 0 oz.

CHRIS Brown, from Worton, took top prize at Sunday’s Lavington match at Baldham Mill with 5 lb 3 oz of roach, dace and gudgeon.

Graham Pearce took 4 lb 12 oz for second spot and Don Keates, from Hilperton, was third prize with 3 lb 5 oz.

Other placings: 4. Kevin Morris Devizes 1 lb 12 oz; 5. Tony Weekes Market Lavington 1 lb 8 oz; 6. Mark Easy West Lavington 1 lb 3 oz.

PETE Neate struck gold with 59 lb 1 oz of carp and skimmers to win Sunday’s Wilts Angling Open match at Eden Vale.

Dean Adams, from Bradford, was next with 41 lb and Paul Sims, from Frome, third with 39 lb 12 oz.

Other placings: 4. Robin Guy Melksham & John Gardner Chippenham 28 lb 2 oz; 6. Ian Willetts Bradford 27 lb 13 oz.

SUNDAY’S Trowbridge match on the Bristol Avon at Staverton was won by Kevin Grant, of Trowbridge, with 12 lb 4 oz of perch and eels.

Pete Mills, from Chippenham, was next with 8 lb 4 oz of roach and Gary Etheridge, from Devizes, was third with 8 lb of roach.
