SUNDAY’S Trowbridge Xmas match on the Bristol Avon at Staverton was won by Melksham’s Steve Saunders, who drew the golden peg and took full advantage to win £250 with 17 lb 1 oz of chub, writes COLIN SCULL.
Pete Mills, from Chippenham, was next with 8 lb 12 oz of chub, followed by Stuart White, from Chippenham, with 5 lb of roach and chub.
Other placings: 4. Dean Bird Trowbridge 3 lb 7 oz; 5. Dave Baker Trowbridge 2 lb 10 oz; 6. Colin Gittings Chippenham 2 lb 3 oz.
SUNDAY’S Calne Xmas match at Hazeland was won by Shane Belcher with 12 lb of dace, followed by Keith Knotman, of Calne, with 11 lb 4 oz of chub and Steve Simkins third with 7 lb 3 oz roach and dace.
Other placings: 4. Richard Faithful Newbury 6 lb 15 oz; 5. Gary Dodson Calne 4 lb 13 oz; 6. Nigel Smith Calne & Jesse Edwards Calne 4 lb 10 oz each.
THE Lavington Xmas match fished at Merritts and Ellis Lakes was won by Jon Painter, from Trowbridge, with 56 lb 5 oz of carp, followed by Dave Bancroft, from Trowbridge, with 38 lb 8 oz of carp.
Pete Neate, from Holt, was third with 32 lb of carp.
Other placings: 4. Stan Keates Winsley 24 lb; 5. Mark Easey West Lavington 18 lb 2 oz; 6. Tony Weeks Market Lavington 16 lb.
CALNE’S Nigel Snith won the Avon Xmas match with 23 lb 11 oz of perch, from Melksham’s Steve Saunders with 16 lb 10 oz of roach. Bob Ryan, from Melksham, was third with 14 lb 2 oz of perch and skimmers.

DEVIZES MG clinched third in the Upper Thames Winter League after the final round on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Great Bedwyn.
Daiwa Gordon League won the title, followed by Garbolino BVMG. Rob Randall of Garbolino BVMG took the individual title.
