The Calne Xmas match was fished on Sabre Lakes on Sunday where competitors found the going tough.

Top honours went to Elick Payne of Calne, with roach weighing 12lb 1oz.

Mark Wooldridge from Chippenham was next with with carp weighing 10lb 2oz, followed by Calne’s Paul Crayford with carp and skimmers weighing 9lb 8oz.

After two years competing in the grand final, Devizes AC will miss this year’s showpiece after finishing in third spot in the Upper Thames Winter League.

The Championship was clinched by Daiwa Gordon League with 10 points followed by Mosella Lobbys with 14 and Devizes (17).

In the final match fished on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Crofton and Great Bedwyn, individual honours went to Kevin Rowles, of Devizes, with roach and perch weighing 24lb 7oz.

The final round of matches in the South West Winter League was fished on the Kennet & Avon Canal from Darlington Wharf to Limpley Stoke and produced an exciting climax to the series with Sensas Bathampton Avon Aquatics and Preston Innovation Thatchers both finishing the series with 11 points.

Sensas Bathampton clinched the team honours on the day with 48 points followed by Thatchers with 45 and Sensas Thyers with 45.

Individual honours Nick Chedzoy of Preston Innovation Thatchers with roach and skimmers weighing 30lb 6oz.

Runner up prize went to Vince Lunn of Amalgamated Fisheries with roach and skimmer weighing 13lb 11oz, followed by Andy Power of Preston Innovation Thatchers with 13lb 10oz.

The Bathampton Open Xmas match was fished on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Bathampton on Sunday where top spot went to Nick Ewers of Preston Innovation Thatchers with roach and skimmers weighing 14lb 6oz.

Sean Townsend of Bathampton was next with roach and skimmer weighing 11lb 5oz.

Steve Tucker of Preston Innovation Thatchers clinched third with roach catch weighing 8lb 14oz.
