GEORGE Ford says Bath Rugby must improve despite making a winning start to their Aviva Premiership campaign.

Ford was amongst of a handful of World Cup stars who returned to action for Bath last weekend, and he contributed 14 points with the boot as they edged out Exeter Chiefs 19-17 at The Rec.

However, the England ace believes there is still much to work on and has urged his team-mates to deliver more away at Wasps on Saturday.

“We have got to go back and get better this week because that certainly won’t be enough in other games but ultimately, we are happy with the first win and getting four points on the board,” he said.

“We always want that to be the foundation or our game - our defence - but we have done some hard work on it this week because we know Exeter are a great attacking team.

“I think we can still get a little bit better in terms of our defence, but the boys put their bodies on the line and we managed to get away with it.

“This week has been unbelievable; going back into the club and the environment that it is. The lads settle you back in nicely.

“I’m just glad to get off to a winning start and we have got a massive one next week against Wasps.”
