THE 2014/15 Indoor season is rapidly drawing to a close, with the final major events of the national championships being staged at Melton & District from April 3-12.

A total of 11 competitions will be decided in Melton Mowbray, including the four main championship events in both men’s and ladies’ singles, pairs, triples and fours.

Russell Francis will represent Clarrie Dunbar in the men’s pairs and triples competitions and the club will be hoping their fortunes change over the Easter period in their last two chances of securing national indoor glory again.

Francis and Andy Colebrooke face holders Andy Manton and Neil McKeer from Kingsthorpe in their last 32 game in the pairs today before on Wednesday April 8, Francis, Craig Doughty and Graham Shadwell take on Maidenhead outfit Desborough in the last 16 or the triples.

  • CLARRIE Dunbar won their sixth and final men’s inter-club county league match of the season with a comfortable 102-61 victory over Donyatt.

As St Andrews had already secured the title, Clarrie needed 13 points to take the second place from Yeovil’s grasp and they dominated from the start ,surging to an 18-shot lead after ten ends before powering away to win by 41 shots.

Clarrie take on Carterton in the semi-finals of the Wessex League play-offs on the neutral green at Bromsgrove IBC (Warks) on Saturday, April 11 (10am).

  • MARTIN Selway, winner of the second planetbowls.com North Wilts Open singles title just under a fortnight ago, has added to his tournament victories.

He completed a quick-fire double by when winning the Radnorshire IBC Open Singles Tournament at Llandrindod Wells, beating Norman Coad (Bodmin) 2-1 in the final.
