PRESTIGE Bodyworks and Westbury Rangers got their S.K. Fruits Limited Chippenham & District Sunday League Premier Division campaign underway by sharing the spoils in a thrilling contest at Stanley Park.

Prestige netted a late equaliser to claim a 3-3 draw against the side that finished as Division One champions last term.

Matt Hooper’s penalty on five minutes gave Prestige the lead and Rangers missed a penalty of their own through Mark Young.

However, his blushes were spared as Dave Whyte’s header in the 23rd minute brought the scores level before half time.

After the break, Jamie Treweke reclaimed the lead for Prestige on 55 minutes only for Westbury to draw level five minutes later through Marco Viola who made no mistake from their second penalty of the morning.

Westbury took the lead for the first time in the game when Young fired them into a 3-2 lead with 15 minutes remaining, but Prestige claimed a deserved point courtesy of Rob Finnamore's 82nd-minute effort.

AFC Melksham, who had struck more than 60 goals in their six pre-season friendlies, drew 2-2 with FC Constitutional, who had suffered a 6-1 loss in their opening game.

Mmidfielder Luke Turvey put Melksham in front with a thunderbolt but FC Cons started the second half better and Tristan Roberts' sliced shot wrong-footed keeper Joe Menghini for the equaliser.

The visitors' purple patch continued and they took the lead when Ben Hibberd rifled home a stunning left-footed screamer to make it 2-1. Jordan Kirk hit a sweet left-footer to earn Melksham their point.

Somerford rediscovered top form for their trip to Goatacre CC FC with a 5-2 success.

Matt Holdaway put Somerford one up, before Darren Holcombe levelled and Rob Preston’s own goal swung the game in favour of Goatacre.

Matt Spear tied things up before half time and Spear completed his hat-trick before Kieran Ingram made the points safe.
