AFC MELKSHAM began their challenge to become Shoestrings-chargrill sponsored Chippenham & District Sunday League Premier Division champions under way with a hard-fought 4-2 triumph over last year's Division One winners.
James Campbell’s penalty for Potterne was cancelled out by a first of the morning for Josh Robinson. A first goal for club from Tom Lye regained the lead for Potterne but for a second time they surrendered the lead, Stuart Greener’s penalty making it 2-2.
Melksham went in front for the first time through James Dark and they sealed victory thanks to a second of the game from Fordham.
After suffering a 7-2 loss the last time they faced Cons FC, Goatacre ran out 3-0 winners.
Rob Murphy’s goal separated the teams after 45 minutes and two second-half strikes from Tom Boakes on his debut for the villagers sealed maximum points for Sam Parish’s side.
The Castle put the disappointment of last week's last-minute defeat against FC Cons behind them with a comfortable 3-1 win at Melksham Cosmos, Jamie Walters, twice, and Gary Campbell on target as Joe Griffiths' strike proved just a consolations.
