DIVISION One basement side FC Pig & Whistle put in a much improved performance when they visited local rivals Miller Sports A.

However their efforts weren’t enough as Miller, who saw a first-half Paul Walker penalty saved by the Pig keeper Kieran Ramsey, claimed a 3-0 success.

Early in the second half Walker broke the deadlock when he finished from a tight angle to atone for his first-half penalty miss.

Miller doubled their lead on 88 minutes when Dave Jenkins played a quickly-taken free kick to Adam Welch who made it 2-0 and shortly after Welch scored a second to seal victory for the Miller Boys who who also hit the bar a couple of time and were denied by keeper Ramsey on a few occasions.

Calne BFC claimed the bragging rights over their local rivals North Star thanks to a 4-2 success.

Calne led 2-0 at the interval courtesy of goals from Stuart Windsor and Aaron Clegg. Aaron Tyler made it 3-0 before Jason Povey reduced the arrears for the Star.

Jake Mizen added a fourth for Calne and despite Povey scoring a second for the Star it couldn’t prevent them from suffering a fifth defeat of the season.

A week after they claimed a 2-1 victory over Rowdy Cow Rowde, Trevor Rawlings saw his Somerford side seal a quick-fire league double thanks to a 5-3 win.

Somerford were indebted to stand-in keeper Chris Cox as the striker took over the role as stopper and played his part in a thrilling game that saw Matt Spear hit a first-half double and Matt Holdaway scored from the spot to take a 3-2 interval lead.

Graeme Lawton and Matt Minnis scored for Rowdy Cow.

Minnis added a third for Rowdy Cow in the second half but it wasn’t enough as further goals from William Barrass and Ashley Monaghan made certain that Somerford beat their rivals for a second successive week.
