CORSHAM Centre Youth claimed win number eight of the season with an 8-2 success away at a Bath Road side for whom it was their first home outing of the season.

The victory sees the Centre open up a nine-point lead over rivals Bremhill View, Rowdy Cow and Pheasant FC in the battle to become Division One champions.

Adam Shipman knocked in from close range to give Centre the lead. Simon Gray went on a good run and picked out James Lye to make it 2-0.

A well-worked free kick from Lye saw the ever energetic Ben Moore head home for 3-0 and good interplay between Shipman and Lye saw the latter knock in number four prior to half time.

The Centre again made a slow start to the second half allowing Jonny Ingram to pull a goal back for Bath Road whose joy was shortlived as a delightful through ball from Moore saw Liam Ralph make it 5-1.

Ingram scored a second for Bath Road but it was to count for nothing as Centre added number six when 16 year old debutant Zach Hillier planted home after good work from Shipman.

James Lye was the provider for Shipman to knock in his second and the Centre's seventh and Liam Ralph fired in number eight.

A 4-0 triumph for Rowdy Cow Rowde at North Star moved Josh Scott’s side into third place, but for the losers it was their eight loss of the season and leave them in the drop zone.

Neither team were able to conjure up an opener in the first half and it was Rowdy Cow who eventually broke the deadlock, Matt Minnis firing home his first of three goals. Bradley Whitbread’s single completed the win.
