CHIPPENHAM-BASED Oakhill FC are nicely placed to clinch the second automatic promotion spot out of Division Two along with already crowned champions The Grapes FC.

Oakhill, who are currently fourth in the standings after their 5-3 triumph over Corsham Oak, will finish second if they win one of their remaining two matches against either Old Road (Wednesday) or The Mallard next Sunday.

Corsham who were a potential banana skin for Oakhill trailed 2-0 to goals from Kieran Tarrant and Jake Nickless-Mooney before Joe Masson’s penalty got Corsham back in the game.

A Josh Beard penalty prior to half time regained a two-goal cushion for Oakhill.

After the break goals for Mitchell May and Andy Woods dragged Corsham level, however they were unable to build on their promising start as Connor Laidlaw reclaimed the lead for Oakhill and a second of the morning wrapped up their 5-3 success.

FC North Wiltshire signed off their latest campaign with a 3-2 loss at home to a FC Lacock who could still steal second place.

Tom Watchman saw his opener for North Wilts cancelled out by Josh Hard, who then bagged his 27th of the season to give the villagers a 2-1 interval lead.

Rory Davis added a third for Lacock with James Smith scoring a late second for North Wilts.

A depleted Old Road side were only able to field nine players in the first half at home to FC Bradford and gave excellent account of themselves over the 90 minutes.

An injury for them to play the second half with 8 players and they did well just to suffer an 8-3 loss.

Both Aiden Burke and Rupert Burton-Towell scored their first ever goals for Old Road and Ollie Burton-Towell also found the net, but their goals were just deserved consolations as Ashley Styles scored a hat-trick to finish as his team’s top scorer.

Steve Bryant, Mark Maguire, substitute Wayne Duggan who scored and then suffered a broken foot and Gary Brooks who replaced Duggan made up the winners' tally.
