AN 88TH-minute goal completed an amazing second-half turnaround for Semington FC against Westbury Conservative Club and the point from their thrilling 3-3 draw was good enough to secure them the runners-up spot behind champions The Dursley Arms.
Semington were absolutely battered in a first half that saw goals from Steve Ball from the penalty spot and a Ryan Underwood double give the Cons’ Club a 3-1 interval lead.
Chris Dore bundled in from a corner to give Semington an unexpected lifeline.
Semington were much better in the second half and with 30 minutes left they halved the deficit thanks to a second from Dore.
With two minutes remaining Rich Allum’s towering header found the net to earn his team the point that saw them claim the second automatic promotion spot.
The Dursley Arms, who were presented with the Division Three winners trophy prior to the game with Cavalier, were in the partying mood at their Lambrok Road venue in what was their penultimate game.
Cavalier, who started the game with top scorer Adam Bewley in goal were 3-0 down at half time.
With Leigh Blanchard in goal in the second period the floodgates opened as the hosts went on to hit 10 unanswered goals.
It was Blanchard himself who set the ball rolling for Dursley with a spectacular header into his own net. Alex De Silva and Sean Brereton both scored two each, with singles for Darren Amador, Dan Price, a first goal of the season for Carl Crabtree.
A goal on his debut from Stephen Hulbert and a headed own goal from Roger Wiltshire made up Dursley’s 10.
