FIERCE rivals FC Lacock and Oakhill FC went toe-to-toe in much anticipated opener to the Division One season and for the first time ever it was Lacock who were victorious as they ran out 6-1 winners.

Last season’s joint top scorer and player of the season Josh Hard picked where he left off, his first double setting the hosts on their way.

He then added two more in the second half to claim a four-timer, Jack Woolsgrove and Kieran Hard took it to 6-0 before Nathan Merrett score a late reply for Oakhill.

With a move back to Poulton, FC Bradford were looking for some home comforts when they entertained Pheasant FC in their opening game off the new campaign, but their homecoming never went to plan as the visitors turned on the style to claim a 7-2 win.

Callum Chamberlain’s fine half volley form 18 yards out and Craig Fisher’s 25 yard drive into the bottom corner gave Pheasant a 2-0 interval lead.

The visitors then went on to the boss the game as an outstanding individual finish from Richie Bolter made it 3-0.

Craig Fisher with a 30 yard free kick added number 4 before he completed his hat trick with a great run and finish.

Pete Fisher, following an assist from Josh Legg, made it 6-0, Harry Hamlin then pulled a gaol back for Bradford before Legg got on the scoresheet himself with a crisp finish into the bottom corner. Aaron Thornton scored a second for the losers.

After succumbing twice to Corsham Oak last season, it was third time lucky for Lavington Rangers against their old foe as they came from a goal down to claim a 2-1 victory.

Adrian Webb’s opener for Corsham was cancelled out by Cameron Lee before former Castle player Matt Tilley headed home the winner for Lavington.

After suffering relegation from the top flight at the end of last season, Westbury Rangers are looking for an immediate return to the Premier Division and a 2-1 win at Sutton Benger saw them make the perfect start.

Mark Young broke the deadlock for Rangers on 32 minutes and he made it 2-0 with his second of the morning on 50 minutes.

Nathan Todd made things a little more interesting when he halved the deficit for Benger with his 65th-minute strike.

The Grapes United bidding for a hat trick of titles having convincingly won both the third and second division in back-to-back seasons welcomed Calne BFC to their new Christie Miller base and almost came unstruck as the visitors managed to claim a share of the spoils thanks to a 1-1 draw.

Jamie-Lloyd Davies gave Calne a first-half lead which was cancelled out by Tom Robinson’s second half equaliser.
