ONE of the games of the day in the was undoubtedly the Premier Division clash between defending champions Melksham Town (Sunday) and current leaders Bremhill View who had already beaten their hosts 4-1 this season.

In what was a bad day at the office for Bremhill they suffered a 7-3 reverse which ended their 100% record. Melksham’s debutants Luke Ballinger and Jack Woolsgrove had a huge say in the win as they scored two each, James Dark, Jordan Kirk and Sean Fordham shared the other for Mike Rogers team who were 4-0 up in the opening 15 minutes. Jamie Crump and Kieron Gleed with a brace replied for Bremhill who despite the defeat remain top of the table.

Playing only their fourth league match of the season to date, Audley FC visited Corsham Youth for the first of back-to-back fixtures and after a perfectly observed two minute silence, Audley, who started the game with 10 players and finished it with eight, suffered a 7-0 loss.

Audley had the better of the opening 15 minutes, but Corsham’s numerical advantage started to show as chances fell to the evergreen Simon Gray and Ed Sibbick. But it took a while for the former to break the deadlock when he blasted home from 12 yards.

Sibbick’s great turn and finish made it 2-0, not long after Audley were reduced to nine men when they had impressive keeper Dan Hibberd red-carded.

The second half saw Corsham start to dominate possession but the spirited Audley could not be broken down, with 25 minutes remaining Audley lost Mike Murden through injury and at juncture the floodgates opened.

Sibbick added his second, Simon Gray scored a further two for his hat-trick, Max Bray and a well-placed free kick from debutant Shane Godsell capped a hard-earned win for Corsham Youth.
