ANDY Allen’s Pig & Whistle side had been showing signs of improvement in recent weeks and despite trailing 2-0 after 45 minutes at a Christian Malford side had already beaten them 3-1, an inspired second half saw them turn the game on its head with a 3-2 win, their first in 26 outings.
On four minutes Malford broke quickly and Josh Thompson’s cross from the right was headed home by Matt Webb to give them a 1-0 lead.
Another break by Malford saw Ashley Fletcher put in Webb who slotted home his second and a 2-0 lead.
Malford had a glorious chance to extend their lead in the second half before Dan Moore lobbed the Malford keeper to reduce the score to 2-1.
After 75 minutes Pig equalised when Paul Walker crossed from the left for Shaun Heathcote to score.
With just five minutes to go, debutant Walker scored to give Pig & Whistle a deserved 3-2 win.
A 5-1 victory for Semington FC over Westbury Conservative Club saw them close within a point of leaders Dursley Arms who missed out on a game.
Ricky King’s left-footed strike from 12 yards on five minutes gave Semington the lead, Ed McCormack made it 2-0 when he finished off a fantastic 15-pass build-up.
King then scored his second for 3-0, placing the ball beyond the onrushing keeper from 30 yards from a tight angle.
Ryan Underwood’s goal prior to half time was a lone reply for the Cons’ Club as Dean Shaw headed in a McCormack cross for 4-1 and Chris Dore completed the scoring in the last 10 minutes when he thumped the ball home from 30 yards.
