NORTH Star Club’s 6-1 victory on home soil over a depleted Foresters Arms side, who played the whole 90 minutes with nine men, took the Calne side to the top of Divison Two ahead of the two-week Christmas break.
Jake Gleed opened the scoring for the leaders, Pete Thornton doubled it and a Henry Meakin own goal made it 3-0 before Gleed added his second and Star’s fourth of the morning.
A first of the game for Tom King gave them a 5-0 interval lead.
After the break, David Williams grabbed a consolation for Foresters before a second from King sealed victory number six of the campaign for Liam Westland’s men.
Melksham rivals FC Libby and Forest AFC locked horns at Awdry Avenue and in what was an entertaining derby day duel the spoils were shared as Forest overturned a half-time deficit to claim a 1-1 draw.
Steve Badger’s first-half effort for Libby was cancelled out by Brently Roberts who levelled matters from the penalty spot.
