WARMINSTER Town joint-boss Derek Graham doesn’t think that his players had any reason to be down in the dumps following their loss to high-flying Wincanton Town last weekend.

Despite suffering a 4-2 reverse in Somerset, Warminster pushed their hosts all the way and only succumbed to two late goals after twice levelling things up.

Jack Miluk slotted home the visitors’ first equaliser before Tom Golledge headed in their second and it was only after Sam Babtunde’s effort was deflected onto the post that Wincanton claimed all three points with two late strikes.

“People might look at it and think we got hammered but it wasn’t like that at all,” said Graham.

“Tom Golledge has gone up for a header with an open goal to aim at and their centre-half has shoved him in the back, which the referee’s missed. They’ve then gone up the other end and scored and scored another one right at the end after we chucked everything up front.

“It doesn’t matter – we’ll get our bit of luck another time. The performance was really good and there’s no way that we should be depressed about it.”

Warminster are without a match on Saturday after their Wiltshire Senior Cup quarter-final clash with Amesbury Town was postponed due to them having a raft of youngsters away on Wiltshire U18 duty this weekend.

Graham and Andy Crabtree’s men will host Amesbury on December 20.
