FROME Town manager Adrian Foster is hoping that he can help new signing Jake Harris fall back in love with football at Badgers Hill.

The 24-year-old striker, who had a successful loan spell with Frome from Newport County back in 2011, has rejoined the Robins on a permanent basis after leaving Conference South Weston-super-Mare and came off the bench in last weekend’s 4-2 win over Histon.

Whilst Harris has joined Foster’s ranks, fellow forward Josh Klein-Davies has this week made a move in the opposite direction, joining Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West outfit Shortwood United.

And the Frome manager reckons that his new striker could prove a useful addition.

“Jake had a big disappointment when he was released by Newport and he hasn’t really done anything in the last two years,” said Foster.

“Sometimes, you do get disappointments in football but hopefully he can fall back in love with football here.

“If he gets fit, he could be a very good player and he just needs to show that potential that he has and get back that drive and passion.

“Josh came and spoke to me and said that he wanted to go to Shortwood, so I was happy to let that happen.”

Frome’s home clash with Biggleswade Town on Wednesday was rained off but on Saturday, the Robins brought their three-match winless run to an end with victory over Histon.

Stutes goalie Denzel Gerrar slipped to allow Matt Smith’s strike into the net before Aaron Rodriguez and Ollie Taylor notched to put the home side in control.

Stuart Wall’s header reduced the deficit on the stroke of half-time before Histon’s Mateus Kuzinski made it 3-2 just before the hour mark but Lewis Haldane settled any nerves as he slid home with two minutes to go.

“The conditions were really difficult but we played really well in the first half and created a lot of chances,” said Foster.

“We did concede right on the stroke of half-time and then when they made it 3-2, that did make things a bit tense but we managed to get that fourth goal and get the win.

“Their manager said that we deserved it on our first half performance and I think that was right.”

The Robins are 19th in the Premier Division table and face a crucial trip to second-from-bottom Banbury United tomorrow.

Frome chief Foster added: “It’s a massive game. We have to go there for three points and nothing less.

“They’re obviously going to be scrapping for their lives, meaning it’s not going to be an easy one, but we have to go there looking to come away with a win.”

Dual-registered Bradford Town goalkeeper Ed Baldy is set to remain in goal for Frome this weekend in the absence of injured stopper Darren Chitty.

Full-back Kris Miller remains a doubt for the trip to Banbury.
