SQUAD strength has been the key to Frome Town’s two victories over top-five sides this week, according to manager Adrian Foster.

With nearly a full compliment at his disposal, the Robins boss saw his troops beat Hungerford Town 1-0 at Badgers Hill on Saturday before, on Wednesday night, they dispatched third-placed Weymouth 3-1 to move eight points clear of the bottom three in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division.

Defender Chris McGrath, the son of former Manchester United and Aston Villa man Paul, made his debut in the Weymouth triumph after joining from league rivals Bideford and a Foster is chuffed with the options in his armoury.

“Chris McGrath is someone I’ve worked hard to get in and he came in after signing on Monday. Then we had Ben Thomson and Kris Miller back on the bench,” said the Frome manager.

“Jonny Vance has also come back into the side. I’ve brought in a couple of players recently and I’m we’re not looking strong in defence, good in midfield, and we’ve got goals up front.

“If I’d had this sort of squad at the start of the season, we wouldn’t be in the situation that we’re in.

“We’ve beaten two good sides this week and that’s three wins in a row – we want to keep going and try to win every game that we can.”

Lewis Haldane netted twice as Frome saw off Weymouth, with his two strikes sandwiching Rhys Baggridge’s tap-in, whilst Jack Vallis’ 85th-minute header clinched all three points against Hungerford.
