PAUL Shanley thinks that his Bradford Town team did enough on Tuesday night to merit their last-gasp winner at Bitton.

Bradford, who saw their seven-match unbeaten run in the Toolstation League Premier Division brought to an end on Saturday as they were beaten 1-0 at Shepton Mallet, bounced back with a 3-2 win on Tuesday.

Michael Rimmer slotted home from the penalty spot at the death to secure victory after Neikell Plummer had been bundled over.

Earlier, both Sam Jordan and Mark Robins had both found the net to leave the scores level at 2-2 and Shanley was left in little doubt that his troops deserved to get themselves back on track at the first time of asking.

“We went 1-0 up early on but we should have been up by two or three. Conor Thompson had to make a good save but we were disappointed with 1-1 at half-time,” said the Bradford manager.

“They were full of confidence after a big win on Saturday (Bitton thrashed Welton Rovers 9-1) but we were confident too and I think we definitely deserved it in the end.

“On Saturday, we were a bit poor and were lucky to only lose 1-0 to Shepton Mallet but we went out there with the right attitude and commitment on Tuesday.

“I think we’re heading in the right direction. We’re starting to get some consistency to our game and we’re near the top six, which is where we want to be.”

Bradford face a fourth straight away contest when they travel to Willand Rovers on Saturday.
