BRADFORD Town came up against an immovable force in the form of Willand Rovers stopper Christian Paulet-Brigg on Saturday as they had to settle for a draw in Devon.

When Neikell Plumber latched on to a through ball from Sam Jordan to open the scoring inside two minutes, Paul Shanley thought his side were on to a winner.

Bradford then found themselves two up after 20 minutes when Jordan headed home a perfectly-placed ball from Aaron Cornwall.

However, the hosts pulled a goal back before Paulet-Brigg fouled Mike Rimmer, who lifted himself up from the floor to take the spot-kick, only to be denied by the Willand keeper.

Rovers equalised with 20 minutes to go and then piled on the pressure and Shanley said they were fortunate at the end not to lose the game.

“I’ve probably not been involved in a game like it,” said the Town manager.

“We’ve probably created about 20 chances and hit the target with about 15 and their keeper has had a day which he will probably never have again. It was an unbelievable display by him.

“He saved everything we threw at him, including the penalty, and it was one of those days you can’t do anything about it. He has been exceptional.

“You look back at the game and we have created all these chances and we have hit the target, but when you come up against something like that, you have just got to accept that it is one of those games and move on.

“We take the point and move on to Saturday.”

Shanley’s men now face a local derby when they travel to the Congire to face Darren Perrin’s Melksham Town in the Wiltshire Senior Cup.

The Bradford boss is expecting another nervy contest to ensue between the fierce rivals.

“We always look forward to playing Melksham and I am sure it will be a tight game between two decent sides,” added Shanley.

“We’ll approach it as we do any other game.

“A local derby adds a little bit to it but we want to win every game we play and this is no different.”
