BRADFORD Town boss Paul Shanley has set his sights on matching their FA Vase heroics of 2015 by reaching the fifth round again.

The Trowbridge Road outfit qualified for the last 16 of the national competition for the first time in the club’s history 12 months ago before going out to Wiltshire rivals Highworth Town, and can do so again should they triumph this weekend.

Standing in Bradford’s way are Hampshire side Hartley Wintney, with Shanley’s men travelling to take on the Combined Counties Premier Division high-flyers in the fourth round on Saturday.

Bradford warmed up for the game with a 1-0 win away at Cribbs in the Toolstation Premier Division last weekend and although they will be the underdogs at Green Lane, Shanley says his side should go there with no fear.

“If we could match what we did last year and get to the fifth round again that would be a very good achievement,” said Shanley.

“This season we have been very inconsistent in the league but in the cup games we’ve played, we have been very good. I think some of our best performances have been in cup matches.

“It’s a bit of an unknown as they are in a different league but we do know a little bit about them and they will be a decent side.

“They won at Merthyr – who play two leagues higher in the Southern Premier Division – in the FA Cup earlier in the season so that shows what they are capable of.

“They are doing well in their league and I think they have only lost four matches all season but any side who has reached the fourth round of the Vase is going to be decent.

“I know that if we can play like we did to win at Buckland in the last round we will have a very good chance of getting through.”

Bradford are sweating over the fitness of goalkeeper Jamie Bartlett after he missed the weekend win at Cribbs through injury, while Jack Hopper will definitely miss the game because of a one-match suspension.

Shanley added: “Jamie has been struggling with a back injury. He missed Saturday’s game but we are hoping he will be okay for Saturday. If we can get him back it’ll give us a nice boost.”
