NICK Bunyard insists there will be no going through the motions when Frome Town host Redditch United in their final game of the season on Saturday.

Frome’s Worcestershire visitors currently sit second in the table and will be heading into the play-offs following their visit to Badgers Hill.

But Bunyard is keen to make up for the perceived injustices of the Robins’ trip to Redditch on March 21, when striker Mitchell Page was shown a straight red card for an alleged elbow before the hosts were awarded a late penalty to deny Frome victory.

“We’re keen to put right what happened when we played Redditch before because the refereeing decisions cost us that day and we were on a run of five wins in a row,” said Bunyard.

“It is a nothing game but we want to put in a performance and get a good result because a point would see us surpass the club’s previous record points total in the Southern Premier (57 points in the 2013-2014 season), which we’ve already equalled.

“We want to finish off with a good result to go into the summer with some momentum too.”

Former Paulton Rovers boss Bunyard was appointed Frome manager in August and is plenty proud of comfortably guiding his side to safety in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division.

The Robins chief said: “When I took over at Paulton (in May 2012), I inherited a squad that were already settled and I’d spent six months as Mark Harrington’s assistant.

“At Frome, I came in mid-season and didn’t have a pre-season. We were in a really tough position but I’ve got a lot of pride over keeping the club in this league and getting us to within a point of that record points total.

“It’s certainly been the biggest achievement of my relatively-short managerial career.”

Last weekend, Frome slipped to a disappointing 4-0 defeat at promotion-chasing Hungerford Town, with manager Bunyard absent.

Gary Horgan netted twice for the hosts whilst Rhys Tyler and Mike Jones were also on target as the Robins crumbled.

Bunyard added: “I wasn’t there and the boys let themselves down in my absence. They didn’t perform and they need to try and put that right.”
