FROME Town boss Josh Jeffries was left feeling proud of his team after they came away with a 1-0 win at promotion-chasing Leamington.

Jake Jackson’s 64th-minute strike and Kyle Phillips’ penalty save deep into stoppage time was the difference between the two sides.

The win was also Frome’s second 1-0 success in as many weeks following last weekend’s triumph over Slough Town.

The most pleasing aspect for Jeffries was that his side were able to put in a good performance despite not having anything to play for as they season draws to a close.

“It was a really good win, to be fair. Those games take care of themselves because there is no pressure on us, it was all on them,” said Jeffries.

“You can afford to enjoy it a bit. Luckily enough, this year we have been brilliant against the top sides.

“It was a good result against a top side who are obviously trying to catch Chippenham at the top of the table.

“For us, to go there with nothing to play for and come away with a clean sheet and three points is really a testament to the players.

“We defended really well. They had a bit of pressure and possession, as you would expect them to have at home in front of a fairly big crowd.

“They didn’t have too many clean-cut chances, though, so I am really pleased.”

Next up for Frome is Saturday’s visit of Dunstable Town, who are down in 15th in the league standings.
