HEYTESBURY, who beat Greyhound 6-0 in their opening Gooding Accounts-sponsored Division Two Cup, Group One fixture, as good as booked their place in the semi-finals thanks to a 5-2 success in the reverse fixture.

Despite their defeat, Greyhound could yet make it to the knockout stage too.

Heytesbury got off to a flyer and were ahead in the opening minute as Craig Sheppard’s cross sailed over everyone and into the net.

If Sheppard’s first goal was something of a fluke, his second was sublime. Having picked up a miskick from the Greyhound keeper, he calmly lobbed the ball back over his head to make it 2-0.

Greyhound pulled a goal back before half-time but Heytesbury needed just two minutes of the second half to regain their two goal cushion as Jamie Howse scored from the penalty spot after being felled in the box.

An own goal gave Greyhound a glimmer of hope but that ended when Dan Dicks slalomed past five players before planting home a stunning finish to make it 4-2 and Sheppard sealed the win when he wrapped up this hat-trick late on.

Holt are the new leaders of Group Two after they beat Aces for a second successive weekend, this time edging a seven-goal thriller 4-3.

Jordan Pinder headed home an Otis Young corner to give Holt the lead and Mark Maguire made it 2-0 before Joe Garraway reduced the deficit for Aces.

Young got himself on the scoresheet for Holt with a free-kick but Baldwin grabbed a second goal for Aces prior to half-time.

Things became interesting 10 minutes from time when Josh Maguire scored a comical own goal to restore parity on the scoreboard but a costly error in the Aces defence allowed Marika Cagilaba to net the winner for Holt.

Division One

A 4-0 WIN for Luxol St Andrews at home to Hilperton United means that along with both Freshford United and Stockton & Codford, they have 31 points at the top of the Division One table in the Trowbridge Windows & Conservatories-sponsored Trowbridge League.

Hilperton lost goalkeeper Garry Clements in the pre-match warm-up had to use him as an outfield player with Chris Foley between the sticks, and although the replacement stopper had a good game, he could not prevent Luxol’s Tom Rooney from scoring twice before half-time.

Dan Cockerill added a third before Rooney had the final say when he completed his hat-trick.
