TROWBRIDGE’S Nick Blackwell is set to go international for the second time in his career after being announced on the undercard of this month’s ‘Title Tornado’ tournament in Monte Carlo.

The 23-year-old, whose only previous European adventure saw him take on Ukrainian Max Bursak in his own back yard last year, is set to return to the ring at the Salle des Étoiles hall at the Sporting Monte Carlo complex on October 25.

Blackwell, who is also due to box on Hennessy Sports’ rearranged bill at the Glow events centre in Kent on November 11, is expected to take on 40-year-old Belarusian Sergey Khomitsky, who stopped London’s Frank Buglioni to win the WBO European super-middleweight title in April.

The Monte Carlo show will be broadcast in the UK on Channel 5 and will be jointly-headlined by Blackwell’s former British middleweight title rival Martin Murray as he takes on Italian Domenico Spada in a world title eliminator and Stuart Hall, who is up against American Randy Caballero as he bids to regain the IBF world bantamweight belt.
