BRADFORD on Avon ultra-distance runner Holly Rush has been named in the Great Britain & Northn Ireland team for the IAU World 100km Championships in The Netherlands in September.

Rush will join last year’s world 100km bronze medallist Jo Zakrzewski as one of three British women competing over the demanding circuit in Winschoten.

Zakrzewski will lead the women’s team as they seek to defend their team gold from Qatar. Sue Harrison, who also claimed bronze at the IAU European 100km Championships in 2013, makes up the women's trio.

A five-strong men's team will also compete for Britain at the event and Walter Hill, the team leader said: “This strong team will aim to build on the success of the GB & NI achievements at the last World Championships in Doha.

“I believe we are very much on a wave of success in ultra-running disciplines and that is demonstrated in the eight-strong team we are sending to Winschoten.”
