SCOTT Clist hopes to have taken a huge career step forward after an eye-catching victory at Cage Warriors' comeback UK show in London last week.
The 38-year-old from Trowbridge defeated Romford’s Brad Wheeler in a 159lbs bout by stoppage at the end of the first round at Camden Centre as the UK-based promotion returned after an 18-month hiatus.
Clist, who trains under Stu Pike at Melksham’s Dragonslair Gym and Mark Kent at Trowbridge’s Contender Gym, spent most of the round in defensive mode but turned the tables with a barrage of punches late on to leave Wheeler unable to continue.
“It’s definitely my best victory and best performance to date,’’ Clist said.
“Brad Wheeler hadn’t been defeated for three years, so to win by stoppage was awesome.
“I’m hoping I’ll get another call to fight on Cage Fighters again.
The next step up would be UFC but I’m not going to get ahead of myself.
The (Wheeler) fight has got my name out there a bit and it has had thousands of views online.’’
