TROWBRIDGE racer Dan Blake is on the hunt for financial backing as he prepares for the 2017 season with a new car.

The 28-year-old endured a tough 2016 campaign, only being able to race in eight of the 16 rounds of the Carbon8 Coupe Cup due to budget restraints, while reliability problems further hampered his progress.

That followed a successful first two years in 2014 and 2015 but, over the winter, Blake will have a new car built by 2016 series-winning team, Amigo Motorsport, to contest the 2017 Coupe Cup season.

That series, expected to be over 14 rounds, covering seven weekends, is not the only racing Blake is hoping to take part in.

On the final weekend of the 2016 season at Silverstone, he made a competitive debut in the Pre 2005 Touring Car Championship, securing a third and fourth-place finish.

Budget depending, he will compete in selected rounds of the Touring Cars next season and is close to a deal with Amigo Motorsport for 2017, having run under the team banner at Silverstone.

“The 2016 season was one that was character-building for myself and the team,’’ he said.

“It has really put the fire in me to go out next year and prove I am still a front-runner in the series."
