WINSLEY ensured leaders Great Bedwyn were forced off the top of the summit with a comfortable win on the road on Saturday.

Bedwyn, who were replaced at the top by Marshfield, slipped to third after their defeat, having been dismissed for 164 in under 40 overs.

Rob Palmer scored 65 but had precious little back-up as Stuart Hammond took 4-28 and Tom Walker 2-58 for the visitors. Winsley had few problems knocking off the runs and did so inside 32 overs, Jeremy Smith scoring an unbeaten 85 in 89 deliveries and Robbie Cross 38 not out.

The bowlers were on top at Burbage & Easton Royal as the home side edged home by a wicket against Trowbridge.

Trowbridge reached 150 before being dismissed in the 44th over, but Burbage had to endure some nervous moments before scraping home to 153-9 after 42 overs.

  • WINSLEY Cricket Club is holding its annual President's Day on Sunday (July 13) starting at 9.30am.
