TWO COMBINATIONS from Clarrie Dunbar will both be bidding for glory and a national indoor title in the mixed championship finals being staged this weekend in Lincoln.

The husband and wife partnership of Keith and Thelma Bailey will be competing in the last 16 and latter stages of the mixed pairs competition while the Dunbar quartet of Debbie Shadwell, Kim Smith, Russell Francis and Andy Colebrooke will seeking glory in the last 16 of the mixed fours event.

The Baileys qualified for this weekend’s trip to the Lincoln and District IBC by winning the Area 30 mixed pairs title with a one shot 23-22 success in the Area final over Bristol and followed that up with a 24-21inter-area final victory over area 29 winners Steve Hooper and Kirsty Hembrow (Taunton Deane).

They take on England duo Amy Stanton and Andrew Walters (Welford-on-Avon).

Clarrie’s mixed fours team, led by Colebrooke, had a much more comfortable passage into the final stages after beating Gary Jay’s Clevedon foursome 22-18 in the area 30 final before following that up with a thumping 26-10 victory over Watchet in the inter-area final.

The Dunbar rink face Matt Marsden, Catherine Popple, Sarah Seymour and Stuart Popple (City of Ely) in the last 16.

Away from the mixed fours final, Clarrie’s Francis and Colebrook thrashed Bristol’s Peter Birmingham and Paul Bryant 25-11 in the Area 30 pairs final played at Street last Sunday.

They now move forward to the inter-area pairs final and will face Area 29 winners Taunton Deane for a place in the last 16 and latter stages in Melton & District in early April.

Christie Miller’s Andy Moore was pipped at the post 21-19 in the Area 30 singles final.
