FROME Town’s excellent run of six league matches without defeat, including five wins on the trot, came to an end in Worcestershire as Redditch United ran out 4-1 winners on Tuesday night.
The Robins, who drew 2-2 at St Ives Town on Saturday, found themselves behind after 21 minutes as they lost possession following a free kick in the Redditch half allowing the hosts to break quickly on the left and as the cross came in, Ashley Sammons was on hand to turn the ball into the net before Dior Angus doubled the lead for Darren Byfield’s men.
After the break the Reds went 3-0 up when Orrin Pendley connected sweetly with a well-taken corner and the hosts added their fourth soon after when the Frome defence were left flat-footed as Kevin Montero calmly tucked the ball away.
The visitors did pull a goal back in the 65th minute when Mitchell Page struck with an overhead kick after Chas Hemmings had headed the ball back across the face of the area.
On Saturday, Frome host Hitchin Town.
