BEN Stow was the sole Wiltshire representative to reach the matchplay stages of the British Amateur Championship in Kent today.
Stow, from East Knoyle near Warminster, added a second round 73 at the Prince's club to his opening 74 at Royal Cinque Ports yesterday to finish inside the top 64 and ties needed to progress.
He faced Switzerland's Mathias Eggenberger in the first of the matchplay rounds on Wednesday morning, with a last 64 clash following in the afternoon if successful
There was no joy for the other county participants as they all bowed out after the two strokeplay rounds.
Salisbury & South Wilts' Robbie Busher came closest to joining Stow, adding a second-round 71 at Prince's to his opening 77 to finish tied 73rd.
Brothers Josh and Ben Loughrey (Wrag Barn) failed to qualify, Josh carding an expensive nine-over at Royal Cinque Ports to finish at 12-over, while Ben could only manage seven-over for 12-over overall.
England amateur international Jordan Smith, who harbours hopes of selection for the Great Britain & Ireland side to contest this year's Walker Cup clash with the USA, was also on his way home after rounds of 77 and 75.
