WARMINSTER’S losing streak stretching back to October lengthened as they lost to last season’s champions.

The amber and blues turned in a gritty performance but were eventually outclassed.

Warminster started the game well, although Wimborne’s dominance of possession told as they scored two tries to take a 12-0 lead.

The visitors were second best in the contact and tackling stakes, but at scrum time they were dominant as the front row of Olly Hares, Mat Pursell and Steve Rowbotham had their opposite numbers on the back foot.

That pressure told as Warminster earned a penalty that Jason Sprangle comverted.

Wimborne replied with another try but Warminster were able to chip away at the lead again when another penalty after a high tackle on replacement winger Dan Harris, resulted in another three points for Sprangle.

Before the half was out Wimborne ran in another try through poor tackling with just another Sprangle penalty in reply.

The second half started well for the visitors when the home side lost a man to the sin bin, but Warminster were unable to capitalise.

Wimborne scored a number of tries steadily through the half.

But Warminster did manage to get a try their efforts deserved with James Pinnell getting on the end of a trusted back move.

Full back Scott Blaskzkiw threw an excellent final pass on the run and Pinnell finished the move off well.
