TROWBRIDGE’S South West One East clash at title chasers Towcestrians was abandoned with 15 minutes remaining on Saturday after a serious injury suffered by visitors’ youngster Gareth Davis.

Davis suffered a broken and dislocated ankle and was taken to Northampton General Hospital before subsequently being transferred to Bath’s RUH on Sunday to await and operation, where he was visited by the club’s head coach Steve Ojomoh.

On the pitch, Trowbridge’s Tom Weaver kicked a penalty but Towcestrians took command until Davis’ horror injury, while trapped in a ruck.

The air ambulance was called, but with players from both sides clearly in shock, the referee called a half with Towcestrians leading 60-3.

BATH Rugby aces David Wilson, Jonathan Evans and Will Homer watched as Trowbridge RFC hosted Bath Rugby’s Land Rover Premier Rugby Cup event on Sunday.

Twenty local teams and more than 300 U12 and U11 players descended on Doric Park for the event as Trowbridge U12s reached the quarter-finals, while Corsham Rugby Club were also in attendance with the U11s making the plate semi-finals and the U12s the quarter-finals.
