COMMUNITY leaders are hoping to shore up support for Trowbridge businesses at an special event on Thursday. The second annual Business to Business (B2B) event, which is to be held at the Civic Hall between 9.30am and 6.30pm, will bring together companies from across the town.

It was set up by the Trowbridge and District Chamber of Commerce to foster good relations and encourage the sharing of ideas. Whether a business is looking to save money or boost sales, the 46 stalls and workshops throughout the day will aim to get the creative juices flowing.

The workshops include topics such as marketing tools, sources of finance and selling online. B2B delegates will also be able to learn about selling methods, pricing, using current customers for growth, and exploring the link between service and sales.

Organiser Raine Harvey-Cantrell said: “You can’t keep your head in the sand. You have to get out there and sell your business to people and this networking opportunity is the perfect way to do that. Lots of people can get lots of different things from it.”

Len Turner, manager of the Mid Wiltshire Economic Partnership, who visited B2B last year, said: “I was very impressed by the wide range and excellent presentation of exhibitors’ stands, which were much appreciated by all visitors. Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce is to be congratulated on its decision to support local businesses this year.”

There will be an advertising workshop with the Wiltshire Times, who are sponsors alongside HSBC, Business Link and Lloyds TSB. The newspaper is offering the chance to win £500 worth of advertising space. Advertising manager Lisa Wrintmore said: “I think it is important we are involved in community events such as this and that we support the business community through these difficult times.”
