Well-known Trowbridge Italian restaurant and pizzeria worker Gerardo Trimarco, better known by his nickname Dino, died on August 15 at the age of 59.

Mr Trimarco was born in Baronissi, Salerno province, Italy, on April 27, 1955, before his family moved to Milan when he was six months old. He had one older sister, who now lives in Sicily.

While in Milan, Mr Trimarco met his wife Nadia, who he married on September 26, 1981. The couple had two children together, called Fabio and Debora.

He opened his first business at the age of 19, running a bar in Milan for many years, before moving to Piedmont, Italy, with his family, where he got into the restaurant business and became a chef and pizza man.

Mr Trimarco and his wife ran their own business for many years, before deciding to move to England in 2000. He moved to Devizes to work in a restaurant as a chef, before his family joined him in 2001.

They then decided to open up pizza takeaway Dino’s in Castle Street, Trowbridge, which they ran for a few years before branching out and starting up Italian restaurant and pizzeria Caffe Italiano in Mill Street, Trowbridge.

Mr Trimarco worked alongside his wife, who owned the restaurant, and their two children for many years before he unfortunately started having health problems that lead to an early retirement and eventually an early death at just the age of 59.

His family still run Caffe Italiano and said that he was a very caring and kind man, who was passionate about his work.

Mr Trimarco’s funeral will be held at the West Wiltshire crematorium in Semington on September 1 at 9am. Flowers would be welcomed.
