A couple who met two years ago and got engaged after the bride proposed to the bridegroom while on holiday in Rhodes, were married at the Kendleshire Golf and Country Club, near Bristol, on October 17.
Bride Miss Nicola Downes is the first daughter of Derek and Christine Downes, of Westwood, near Bradford on Avon, and bridegroom Mr Darren McKenna is the son of Russell McKenna, of Taunton, and Jo Cook, of Bristol.
The bridesmaids were the bride’s sister Sally Downes, best friends Amy Costigan and Kate Angell, Sarah McKenna and flower girl Abbie McKenna. The best man was Alan Langdon a former colleague and best friend of the bridegroom. The couple’s family and close friends attended the ceremony.
The bridegroom is a port operative for the Bristol Port Company and the bride works as a receptionist for Moduflex in Bristol. She is currently on maternity leave following the birth of the couple’s six-month-old son Ryan.
