At last we have the grass cut in my area that we have been waiting for all year, only after so many of us have had to complain, but it is not a patch on other areas.

I recently visited Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire where they have large areas of grass for recreational use which are kept in immaculate condition without loose grass cuttings being left to go brown and blow about, as it appears these are collected. All the grass verges are kept in the same way and all footpaths are kept clear of any overgrowth of branches, stinging nettles or bindweed which we suffer with in this county. I realise that Wiltshire is a rural county and not a suburban one but we all pay our taxes and deserve a better service than we currently get. Perhaps our councillors should pay a visit to other areas to observe the way they do things and pick up some tips on giving a better service.

Also the roads in these areas are in far better repair than in Wiltshire. You soon know when you return to my home county as when you are driving you can feel the uneven surfaces. Wiltshire seems to have been allowed to become a second rate county and as for the so- called county town (Trowbridge) it is a disgrace how it has been allowed to decline over the years.
