I have to say I felt most uncomfortable with the children from St John’s Catholic Primary School being encouraged to eat dung beetles, wichetty grubs, crickets, and grasshoppers at their recent Go Wild experience.
What is wrong with children being taught to enjoy wildlife by admiring its diversity and ingenuity in just managing to survive in these times when wildlife is struggling due to climate change and loss of habitat.
Without wishing to spoil their fun, children should be taught respect for all living creatures and that not everything is for their gratification and has to be pushed into their mouths.
