I read with interest the interpretation of Jeff Osborne and how he sees Wiltshire Council coping with a cut of one-third of its funding from Government.

In the face of these savage cuts Wiltshire Council has taken the decision to continue to deliver our front line services to our community and has cut its administration costs from 19 per cent to just six per cent which is one of the best levels of back-room cost in the country.

While other councils have simply cut the services they deliver to their communities the Conservative administration of this council has also taken some bold decisions to deliver more for less and this includes our reduction in council administrative buildings from 90 to just three, our ground-breaking campus programme which severely reduces administrative costs of service delivery and while other councils are closing libraries and leisure centres, we are opening new ones and keeping them open for longer.

Jeff Osborne just might like to reflect on how Wiltshire Council is delivering more with less funding and giving value for money to our communities and perhaps he and his fellow former Lib Dem mavericks might just for once be honest and positive about what is being delivered to Wiltshire by its council.
