I would like to thank everyone who attended my late husband Roy’s funeral. We were overwhelmed by the number of people who made the service at St Katherine’s and those who were able to join us at the Holt Bowls Club to remember Roy.

The family would like to thank the following people: Holt Bowls Club for the honour guard and venue, Andrew MacLachlan of the Police Community Support Team for controlling the traffic, Holt Parish Council for the Union Jack at half-mast on the village green, chef Anthony Radford-Hancock at Hartham Park and the ladies of the Trowbridge Sugarcraft Guild for the wonderful buffet and cakes, the HMS Glory standard bearer for leading us into and out of church, Adrian Chivers for his very moving recording of the Glory Anthem and Helen Potton for all her help as always. Also our thanks to Denise and her team from C S Bowyers in Bradford on Avon, who were kind, considerate and truly professional throughout.

Donations for the Stroke Association and the Naval Services Benevolent Fund have reached £515 and will be split in half for each charity, which will be sent in Roy’s memory.

Mrs DM Baston, Avonfield, Holt.
