I find it hard to believe that a tiny minority of the population is potentially jeopardising the commercial future of Bradford-on-Avon for the sake of the pelican crossings.
Bradford is at the moment dying on its feet, with many closed shops, and I know of at least one more shopkeeper who says they will close their business in the town centre if the HCZ does not go through.
It has been proved time and time again in other towns that the scheme will increase the footfall in the town enormously and give many of Bradford’s struggling businesses a shot in the arm. If we don’t say yes in the town poll on February 6 there are other towns lined up behind us ready to take advantage of this offer which won’t be repeated.
We are never going get a bypass and therefore need to make our wonderful little town more attractive and user-friendly to both locals and visitors. For goodness sake, Bradford, wake up and say yes.
