Interest in the Magna Carta anniversary is building up.

A few days ago, I attended a packed meeting of West Wilts U3A to hear a fascinating tale from Andy Milroy about how Magna Carta came about and how important was the involvement of Baron de Bohun, based in Trowbridge castle.

There is going to be a great deal of celebration through the year, but I would also like to see some lasting memorial to Magna Carta and Baron de Bohun.

I have a few low-cost ideas of how this might be done.

Commemorative plaques could go outside the library and the museum, to explain the involvement of Baron de Bohun; part of County Way could be renamed Magna Carta Way; and Trowbridge Park could be renamed De Bohun Park.

A site outside the museum would be particularly apt, as it is on the castle site.

Readers might have other, possibly better, ideas, but I would urge the two councils not to let the importance of Trowbridge in the Magna Carta saga go without some permanent reminders.
