AS a member of the public who takes an interest in local affairs, there appears to be two letters in your issue of January 22 which do not state the right facts.

The first from Val Dyer of Woolley Street, Bradford on Avon, commenting that the town does not have a tourist information centre. However, until recently, when it had to close overnight due to unforeseen circumstances, there has always been a flourishing tourist information centre in Westbury Gardens, manned by many volunteers. The town council is actively endeavouring to open this again as soon as possible, maybe in the next month or two as, of course, it has been very much missed by locals and tourists alike.

The second letter written by P Milson of Bradford on Avon, headed ‘Bridge concerns’, states that the council pulled the plug on Lorry Watch on the Town Bridge.

In fact the reason was that the police could not process the reports sent in by the volunteers due to a shortage of staff. Again the town council has been actively engaged in trying to remedy this and the Lorry Watch scheme, which has been so successful, could possibly be starting again soon.
