THE local council seems obsessed with adding items to our roads which are quite unnecessary. Duke Street is only a few hundred yards long but it has speed humps. Most of the traffic must be from the Lovemead car park which is 50 yards from the junction and I think you would need to be a racing driver to reach 30 mph in that distance.

Due to the restricted visibility at the junction drivers would be well aware that they would almost certainly have to stop on reaching the junction, another reason why undue speed is most unlikely.

Stourton Park is a small development off the Devizes Road with good visibility and yet our highway experts have seen fit to put a roundabout at the junction. It seems entirely unnecessary and a dotted line would have been quite sufficient.

Ashton Rise, off Ashton Road, has recently been resurfaced and a dotted line has been installed at the junction. Ashton Rise has a similar number of houses to Stourton Park so why did it not warrant a roundabout?
