So Bradford on Avon are going coach friendly in a bid to attract more visitors to the town. I would suggest not before time.
The first thing they must tackle is finding town centre parking for coaches to park. At the moment the limited bus and coach parking is used by local service buses, when drivers take their breaks.
When I worked for a large national coach company, I stopped using Bradford on Avon due to the lack of parking; in fact I was told by the former West Wiltshire District Council that parking was only provided for buses, and coaches weren’t classed as buses.
It was clear that coaches were not welcome in the town, and West Wiltshire District Council didn’t understand the benefits of bringing tourists to the town and the much-needed income it would bring.
I wish Bradford well in their bid to attract coaches to the town but the first thing they must sort out is space to park coaches.
