BELATEDLY the government has seen fit to make the modest award of an MBE to Johnny Johnson, the last of the Dambuster airmen. When one sees the ease with which OBE’s and higher decorations are handed out to sports stars, and even their relatives, restaurateurs, desk-bound civil servants and other nonentities One would have thought that the bravery and cold heroism displayed by Johnny Johnson deserved something a little more prestigious.
