Johnny Depp has finally spoken out about his divorce from wife of 15 months, actress Amber Heard.
She filed for divorce on Monday citing irreconcilable differences and the pair’s short-lived relationship has come under significant scrutiny from the media.
The Pirates Of The Caribbean actor has released a statement amid reports of animosity between Amber and Johnny’s family, which they have denied, and his rejection of her claim for spousal support.
The statement, made by his spokesman, makes reference to the timing of the divorce application, which came just three days after the death of Johnny’s mother, Betty Sue Palmer, at the age of 81.
“Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life.
“Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly,” the spokesman told People.
At 52, Johnny is 22 years Amber’s senior. They married in February 2015 after meeting on the set of 2011 film The Rum Diary.
Johnny has two children from a previous marriage to Vanessa Paradis.
