Hoggett and Webb - the administrators of administrative administration - return in a fabulous new Innerroom satire The Chronicles Of Hoggett & Webb.

These two lovable bureaucrats occupy a long-forgotten office in the bowels of Whitehall, where they have faithfully recorded every government act from the Doomsday Book onwards.

Strangers to the telephone, let alone email, they're still communicating through tubes and religiously adhere to every bureaucratic procedure. But Hoggett and Webb throw new light on the history events of the last 100 years as we see their administration of the end of WWI through to the "war on terriers".

"Hoggett & Webb are based on my letting agents from a few years ago. They were two old gentlemen who inhabited a positively Victorian office without a computer in sight," said writer/ director Andy Burden.

The duo first appeared in 2005's The Truth About Hoggett & Webb - a biting satire on the Dodgy Dossier, the Butler and the Hutton Report into the war with Iraq.

The new play covers events of the past 90 years, but it takes place in just one day.

Mr Burden said: "It's about an hour and a bit long and it really hammers through. Hoggett and Webb write wrap up WWI in a matter of minutes and theN head on through the history of government scandal in contemporary times.

"It's a brief history of bureaucracy - looking at where it prevents good things happening and where it allows bad things to go ahead!"
